🍰 Quick Sweet Treats & 🎨 A Fun Crafty Idea

Hello, Reader,

This past weekend was a sweet and special one for our family. We took a little trip from Vancouver Island over to the mainland to celebrate a big milestone—my husband’s graduation! 🎓

After five years of slow and steady work (one course at a time while also working full-time), he has now completed his Master of Arts in Chaplaincy & Spiritual Care. It was such a lovely day of celebration, and I just had to share it with you, too—especially since many of you have been cheering him on behind the scenes. Thank you! 💙

His final project included a podcast series all about loneliness—how it affects us and how we can respond with compassion and care. If that topic speaks to you, I’d love to invite you to take a listen.

Try Something Crafty?

Before the big shutdown of 2020, I remember grabbing a kids’ watercolor set very intentionally. Every day, I’d sit at the table, swish my brush in the water, and paint a little something. It became a peaceful, creative rhythm in uncertain times.

If you’re looking for a new hobby—or just a soothing way to unwind—I’ve rounded up some easy watercolor tutorials for beginners (plus free printable templates to get you started!).

And, I laughed as I discovered some of the other crafty projects I tried while we were stuck at home. Check this one out!;)

I hope this email brings a little joy and inspiration to your day. Whether you're celebrating something big, picking up a paintbrush for the first time in years, or just sneaking a spoonful of pudding before dinner, know you're in good company.

With love from my kitchen table to yours,

Have a fabulous day!

Rita Joy

Hello, Reader, When I first got married, I quickly realized I had a lot to learn in the kitchen—and I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher than my mother-in-law. She was an amazing cook. The kind who didn’t follow a recipe, rarely measured a thing, and somehow always had dinner on the table exactly when it needed to be. I made a quiet decision early on: I would learn as much from her as I possibly could. (And oh, how grateful I am for that now!) I’d often perch at the kitchen counter with...

Sliced meatloaf on a platter with ketchup topping

Hello, Reader, When I was cooking at a camp years ago, meatloaf was one of the most requested meals by the guests. There’s just something about that old-fashioned comfort that makes people feel right at home. Today I’m sharing a new meatloaf recipe that I got as a newlywed (which feels like just yesterday—but also, quite a few years ago! 😉). It’s quick, easy, and bursting with flavor thanks to a packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix. Click here for Today's New Recipe More Meatloaf Recipes Readers...
